German mobile publishing startup bookletmobile has received a 6-digit sum in seed funding from estag and private investors including Maks Giordano. It plans a first big financing round in the near future.

bookletmobile was founded earlier this year and allows smartphones to become free mobile publishing channels. The business started as a free multimedia guide named culturetouch. Now, rebranded as bookletmobile, the proposition has also been extended. The company’s construction kit enables publishers (be it companies or individual persons) to convert existing content like programs for opera/ concerts/musicals, fair catalogues, event information, museum guides etc. into a booklet and publish it subsequently in the Booklets application. In addition to text and pictures, the application makes it possible to include video and audio files. Meanwhile customers can discover the published electronic booklets through the same application, either through their location, interests or friends.

A free to use service, the company plans to make money through yet-to-launch premium functionality for publishers and placements of booklets within the booklets app.

Currently, Booklets is available on the Apple iPhone and can only be used in the test market Berlin. A roll-out will is planned for the end of this year. The company also plans to extend the offering to platforms like Android.
