German software provider commercetools has raised a round of funding in the “mid-million range” from Bayern Kapital, High-Tech Gründerfonds, BayBG and private investors including Klaus Wecken. The funds will support the company as it plans to further develop and market its cloud-based software for e-commerce products.

commercetools was founded in 2006 to offer SaaS solutions for online mail order companies. The company recently opened another office in Berlin for e-commerce marketing services and cloud e-commerce products. The offering is aimed at small and medium-sized businesses.

The company currently employs 40 staff.
