Telstra subsidiary Ooyala, a video streaming, personalization and analytics company, has acquired VC-backed video advertising technology company Videoplaza.

Videoplaza operates a video ad serving platform and offers programmatic trading solutions. The technology delivers ads to viewers across all devices. It is used by broadcasters and media companies in an aim to maximize video monetization.

Ooyala develops online video management, publishing, analytics and monetization tools that offer personalized video experiences across all screens. Its technologies give content owners more insights in their audience allowing them to increase viewer engagement and revenue from video.

The acquisition of Videoplaza allows Ooyala to tap into the video ad market. As premium video viewing moves away from traditional TV to web and mobile consumption, media agencies are recommending their clients to move up to 25% of their TV ad budgets to digital.

Since 2008, VideoPlaza has been backed by the likes of Creandum, Northzone Ventures, Innovacom, and Qualcomm Ventures.
