Loïc Le Meur joins venture partner team of Wellington Partners

March 20th, 2008: With Loïc Le Meur, one of Europe’s most profiled serial web entrepreneurs, Wellington Partners is adding another star to its venture partner program. French-born Loïc Le Meur has founded and sold four Internet startups already. He has become one the leading figures of the Web 2.0 world, starting when he grew French weblog hosting company Ublog and merged it with Six Apart and continuing with the LebWeb3 conference in Paris which he organizes every year with growing success.

“Our portfolio companies will profit hugely from Loïc's invaluable knowledge and network”, explains Wellington General Partner Eric Archambeau. “We feel privileged by his involvement with our firm and are looking forward to work with him closely in the coming years.”

Loïc Le Meur, who moved to San Francisco in the summer of 2007 to start his new company, Seesmic, is Wellington Partners’ ninth Venture Partner in the technology team.

Wellington’s Venture Partners in Europe and the U.S. advise and support portfolio companies in their strategic planning, key executive hires and business development activities. They also sometime serve on their board of directors or advisory boards.

Eric Archambeau, himself a successful repeat entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, explains: “ Some of the most important and timely advice I received when I was running an early stage company came from CEOs and entrepreneurs who had deep relevant experience in a similar domain, something which is still difficult to find in Europe. So we decided at Wellington to bring directly to our European CEOs through our global Venture Partner program the high density of peer-to-peer advice found in Silicon Valley.’’

Wellington Partners’ existing Venture Partners include Royston Hoggarth, former CEO of Cable & Wireless UK, George Colliat, now group Vice President for CRM Products at Oracle, Fred van den Bosch, former founding CTO of Veritas, and Ram Srinivasan, former CEO of Fireclick, who is now a full-time Venture Partner in Wellington’s office in Palo Alto.

“As Eric told me the first time about this model of Venture Partners I felt attracted. It offers the opportunity to work together closely with world-class European entrepreneurs and to help them fulfil their global ambitions,” adds Loic Le Meur.

First and foremost, Loïc Le Meur will support Wellington’s portfolio companies in the field of digital media and internet services looking at expanding in the US. With these companies he will share his vast experience as a blogger and vlogger – his blog is the No. 1 in France – and as an entrepreneur and pioneer of new business concepts.
