APG and LSP announce strategic investment relationship

Amsterdam, April 28, 2008

The LSP (Life Sciences Partners) Group, the European life sciences investment group, today announces the establishment of a strategic investment relationship with APG Investments. With assets under management of over €200 billion, APG Investments is one of the world’s largest pension asset managers. APG Investments has entered into this relationship to further strengthen its expanded focus on the European publicly listed small-cap biotech market.

“The fact that a party like APG Investments has chosen LSP as its partner for European public biotechnology investments is a strong validation of our work in the European biotechnology arena” says Mark Wegter, General Partner at LSP and responsible for the firm’s recently established public biotech franchise. “The relationship with APG Investments is based upon our joint belief that the highly innovative and hugely dynamic biotechnology sector requires specialized investment expertise and knowledge. This is exactly what LSP brings to the equation.”

“We are enthusiastic about establishing this strategic relationship with LSP.”, says Martin Eijgenhuijsen, Senior Portfolio Manager Healthcare at APG Investments. “We are increasing our investment focus on publicly listed European small-cap biotechnology companies. APG Investments believes that Europe is an increasingly fertile location for biotechnology companies and the LSP team’s skills and expertise in healthcare investing make them a strong partner.”

Based in Amsterdam, Munich and Boston, the LSP Group has successfully invested in the biotechnology sector for almost two decades. Since inception, LSP has invested in 50 companies, of which many became leaders in the industry. With in-depth in-house knowledge and expertise in place as well as an extensive scientific, medical and financial network, LSP currently has € 400 million in capital under management, all of which is directed at investing in the life sciences sector.
