Nokia Siemens Networks and Ubidyne to cooperate on Active antenna solution for multi-standard radio

Espoo, Finland – Aug 14, 2008

Nokia Siemens Networks, a leading global enabler of communications network solutions and services, and Ubidyne, a leader in digital radio technology for the wireless industry, have agreed on cooperation to enhance NSN’s market-leading Flexi Base Station solution with Ubidyne’s innovative active antenna product.

The active antenna technology integrates the functionality of active radio frequency parts of a base station and a passive antenna into one enclosure. It is connected to Nokia Siemens Networks’ Flexi base station running OBSAI standard interface.

The innovative solution based on a platform capable of supporting multiple standards (GSM/WCDMA/LTE/WiMAX) protects operator investment and reduces OPEX by decreasing installation, site rental, maintenance and energy costs. Moreover, reduction of power consumption and visible base station equipment benefit living environment ecologically and visually.

The solution is targeted to operators rolling out new 3G or LTE (Long Term Evolution) networks or enhancing their existing 3G networks, and those planning to gradually phase out GSM to make space for WCDMA/LTE.
