Arma Partners expands US technology investment banking team

We are pleased to announce that Jim Schroder has joined Arma Partners as a Managing Director, based in our US office in Palo Alto, California. Jim's arrival will significantly strengthen Arma's US domestic and transatlantic advisory business, and he will work alongside Brian Skiba, Steve Smith and other members of our US team to help take our US business to its next phase of growth.

Jim was previously a senior Technology banker with Lehman Brothers and Montgomery & Co., with over 15 years of investment banking and professional experience in Silicon Valley, New York and London. He has successfully led transactions for leading technology companies in the US, Europe and Asia representing about $30 billion in M&A and $3 billion in public and private financing. Notable transactions include the sale of Sorenson Communications to GTCR, the $1 billion LBO of Aspect Software by Golden Gate Capital and the $1 billion acquisition of Content Technologies by Baltimore Technologies, in addition to numerous growth transactions in the enterprise software, software-as-a-service, internet, storage and communications domains. Earlier in his career Jim was a Strategy Consultant and served as a Nuclear Submarine Officer on board a fast attack nuclear submarine.

Jim holds an MBA from Yale University, a BS in Systems Engineering from the US Naval Academy (Annapolis) and an advanced program in Nuclear Engineering.

Since the beginning of 2008 Arma Partners has announced close to $3 billion in transactions and continued to experience strong growth in its advisory business. Besides strengthening our US senior team in 2008 we have also significantly expanded our junior banking staff to provide additional transaction origination support and execution strength.

Founded in 2003, Arma Partners has become Europe's leading independent financial advisor to technology companies and a rapidly-growing force in the US market. Recent industry-shaping transactions led by our firm include advising Software AG in its $546 million acquisition of NASDAQ-listed webMethods, GloNav on its $110 million acquisition by NXP Semiconductors, freenet AG in its $2.6 billion acquisition of debitel Group, Micro Focus in its $73 million acquisition of NASDAQ-listed NetManage, and Anite plc on the $108 million sale of its Public Sector division to Northgate Information Solutions.
