Avinity Systems releases H.264 and high definition modules for RenderCast at IBC 2008

Hilversum, September 12, 2008 – the Netherlands. Avinity Systems BV (Avinity) has released the modules to support the H.264 codec and High Definition resolutions (1080i) for its RenderCast™ platform. The platform enables rich interactive services and on-demand Internet content over any network to any two-way Set-Top Box.

The RenderCast™ platform is already being used by several leading cable and IPTV operators and content providers to bring on-line content, rich media navigation and interactive commercials to digital TV platforms based on the MPEG-2 codec. The H.264 codec provides even richer cinematic user interfaces, lower bitrates, and efficient support for High Definition.

“The H.264 codec opens up a lot of new, exciting business opportunities” says Ronald Brockmann, CEO of Avinity. “Most IPTV and High-Definition cable set-top boxes now support H.264. The RenderCast™ H.264 module will further reduce operational costs while bringing a whole new level of user experience to digital TV platforms.”

The H.264 and High Definition Modules are available for commercial deployment starting today and will be demonstrated at Avinity’s booth 5.B05 in hall 5.
