Lou Hermans now vice president marketing and sales of CMOSIS NV

September 2008, Antwerpen/Belgium -- Lou Hermans, co-founder and Chairman of the Board of CMOSIS NV, Antwerpen, Belgium, has been appointed Vice President of Marketing and Sales from September, 2008. Hermans was one of the founders of CMOSIS in November 2007. After some time in the background, he is now back on the active side of a young and prospering image sensor company.

In November 1999, Lou Hermans co-founded FillFactory, a spin-off of IMEC, developing, producing and commercializing CMOS image sensors. At FillFactory, Hermans took the role of Sr. Vice President Marketing and Sales. Under his guidance, in 2004 the company achieved sales of some 24 million. After the sale of the company to Cypress Semiconductor Corporation in August 2004 Hermans remained at Cypress until March 2006.

Guy Meynants, CEO of CMOSIS, describes the step as strategic: 'In his new role, Lou will propel the worldwide business of CMOSIS. His vast experience will not only help us achieve higher turnover with our solutions; Lou also has a deep understanding of the demands of future markets. I'm glad we were able to land Lou Hermans for this job.'

Lou Hermans (born 1956) was educated at KU Leuven, Belgium. He holds a Licentiate Physics (1978) and a Ph.D. in Physics (1983). Hermans is fluent in Dutch, French, English and German. He and his wife and two children live in Bertem, Belgium.

CMOSIS was formed in November 2007 by founders and key officers of former FillFactory, combining a very experienced and high-caliber team of designers and product specialists with a solid technology background in the realm of advanced CMOS image sensor solutions. CMOSIS has the financial backing of Belgian VC fund Capital-E and starts out with a freshly developed IP portfolio in CMOS sensor technology. CMOSIS is engaged in the design, prototyping, characterization and packaging of novel CMOS image sensor solutions for industrial and professional markets. For more information, please visit
