TiE UK sends Delegation of Prominent Entrepreneurs to Enterprising India summit

TiE UK (The Indus Entrepreneurs), the UK’s leading not-for-profit network for entrepreneurs, is sending a delegation of its board and charter members, comprising some of the UK’s most successful entrepreneurs, to ‘Enterprising India’, the most prestigious event in the Indian business calendar designed to celebrate entrepreneurship in India.

Enterprising India is part of the TiE Entrepreneurial Summit, an exclusive gathering for Indian and world entrepreneurs held annually in Delhi and organised by TiE Delhi. The Summit runs from 21 – 23 December 2010 and attracts prominent entrepreneurs from TiE’s global network of over 13,000 entrepreneur members as well as aspiring entrepreneurs and business people from around the world.

At the 2010 Summit, TiE will mark the growth of its network across India where the organisation now has 3,500 members and established chapters at Delhi, Hyderabad, Kerala and Rajasthan.

Enterprising India will celebrate, showcase and encourage Indian entrepreneurs by offering a programme including panel discussions, presentations and gurukul sessions with inspirational role models.

High profile speakers will include Amartya Sen, the renowned Indian economist and Nobel Prize Winner for his contributions to welfare economics, and Narayana Murthy, a leading light of the Indian IT industry and co-founder of Infosys plc.

Amartya Sen’s books have been translated into more than thirty languages and this year Time magazine listed him in their ‘100 most influential people in the world’.

A software engineer by training, Narayana Murthy started Infosys along with a group of six people with a mere US$ 250 in 1981. Today, Infosys is a global leader in next generation IT services and consulting, with revenues of over US$ 4 billion. The company is headquartered in India and publicly traded on the NASDAQ.

George Coelho, managing director of renewable energies investor, Good Energies LLP, is co-president of TiE UK. He said: “Some of today’s most prominent Asian entrepreneurs will be attending the prestigious Entrepreneurial Summit and TiE UK is delighted to be sending a delegation to support this celebration of Indian entrepreneurship.”

The delegation will be led by Parminder Vir, director of PVL Media Consultants and TiE UK board member. She said: “The TiE UK delegation is delighted to have this opportunity to strengthen its links with TiE Delhi - sharing experience, supporting each other is achieving our common goals and assisting with promotion of our unique mentoring programme and inspirational networking events.”

The TiE UK delegation will include:
• Davinder Mann – founder of Consensus Consulting Ltd and TiE UK board member
• Nina Amin – partner at KPMG and TiE UK charter member, who will give a presentation on ‘The UK as a place to do business for Indian companies’.
• Adosh Chatrath – partner at Gates and Partners and TiE UK charter member
• Alpesh Patel – principal and founder of Praefinium and TiE UK board member
• Sunil Mohindra – senior partner at Mohindra Maini LLP Solicitors and TiE Manchester president and board member

Delegates will be able to participate in sessions on topics ranging from ‘Small to Smart (Focus on SMEs)’ and ‘Understanding Technology’ to ‘The Risks & Rewards of Entrepreneurship’ and ‘Creating Partnerships & Teams’.

Parminder Vir added: “There will be plenty of opportunity for individuals to network with and be mentored by inspirational, successful entrepreneurs and this summit provides a great opportunity for up and coming entrepreneurs to meet partners and investors.

“The summit is also focusing on enterprising students and aims to give students an insight into how to shape their business idea with the support of ionic entrepreneurs.”
