Oxonica extends sales of Envirox fuel borne catalyst into Asia-Pacific

January 31, 2005 -- Following the successful UK commercial evaluation of Envirox(tm) Fuel Borne Catalyst with Stagecoach Group Plc, Oxonica is partnering with BASF, the world's leading chemical company and DMX Technology Corp., the Philippine marketer of cutting edge technology to the petroleum industry, to introduce Envirox(tm) to the Philippines.

DMX will distribute this latest nanotechnology based fuel catalyst, into premium branded fuel in the Philippines.

Petteri Makitalo, DMX's chief executive, explained that the new fuel contains BASF's additive package Keropur(tm) DP 4540, incorporating Oxonica's Envirox(tm) nanotechnology. This can result in significant fuel savings of up to 10 percent and a 14 percent reduction in emissions.

Oxonica met DMX at the Asian Development Bank sponsored BAQ (Better Air Quality) 2003 Congress. The Envirox(tm) technology has recently undergone a successful 12-month commercial evaluation by the multi-national Stagecoach Group based in the UK.

BASF bought into the Envirox(tm) technology in April 2004 by signing a collaboration agreement with Cerulean International, Oxonica's wholly owned subsidiary. This relationship has resulted in BASF formulating a new additive package, Keropur(tm) DP 4540, around Oxonica's Envirox(tm). This ultra-premium diesel performance additive package technology will provide substantial cost savings by reducing fuel consumption as a result of an improved combustion process and increases in engine efficiency.

The improved fuel economy and lower emissions are achieved by using a patented catalyst technology based on specially modified cerium oxide. Cerium oxide is a well-known industrial catalyst that is also used in catalytic converters. Keropur(tm) DP 4540 incorporating Envirox(tm) is added to the diesel fuel before it is distributed to filling stations and the fuel is filled into the vehicle in the normal fashion. The nano-structured cerium oxide modifies the combustion profile so that more output is delivered over each combustion cycle for a given quantity of fuel.

No engine modifications are required to use the product and the dose rate of the diesel performance additive package is low at some hundreds parts per million (ppm), while the concentration of Envirox(tm) active in the fuel is extremely low at just five ppm.

Stuart Anderson, Business Director of Cerulean International commented: 'We are very excited by this opportunity to introduce Envirox(tm) Fuel Borne Catalyst to the Philippines with the help of such strong partners as BASF and DMX Technology and look forward to extending the benefits of the product, which has been demonstrated in the UK, to the Philippine market.'
