Atalum & Frontline Offer Protocol Analyzer for Atalum’s ZigBee Networks to OEMs & ICs
Atalum’s Complete ZigBee Starter Kit Has All the Tools to Quickly Set-up, Customize & Analyze Networ

Chicago, US (September 14, 2005) – Atalum Wireless S.A., a pioneer in enabling smart environments with its ZigBee based, wireless GREENsuite product family, and Frontline, an expert in developing protocol analysis tools, today announced it will be including Frontline’s FTS4ZB™ protocol analyzer in Atalum’s ZigBee starter kits. Atalum gives OEMs & ICs all the tools required to quickly set-up and configure ZigBee networks as well as monitor their performance.

Frontline’s FTS4ZB ZigBee protocol analyzer, adopted by leading certification body NTS, tests network performance, a necessity in go-to-market strategies. FTS4ZB “air sniffs” ZigBee and IEEE 802.15.4 data and decodes the entire ZigBee stack, in real-time. Captured packets are displayed in a variety of formats, from raw binary and hex through detailed, fully decoded, field-by-field descriptions. Packets with errors are flagged in red, enabling users to quickly identify problems.

“Atalum’s years of expertise focused exclusively on ZigBee development results in a deep knowledge of what the market requires to adopt interoperable wireless sensor networks on a global scale,” says Eric Kaplan, Founder, Frontline. “Companies now have user-friendly ZigBee starter kits with all the tools to quickly see first-hand how Atalum ‘stacks’ up.”

“Mass market adoption of ZigBee networks and solutions requires tools that fast-forward companies into deployment,” says Sandra L. Wear, CEO & President, Atalum. “Corporations don’t need to spend exhaustive efforts in learning the intricacies of ZigBee’s protocol definition because we offer all the tools to quickly and easily build, configure and analyze our ZigBee implementation. Frontline’s tool is an important part of this strategy.”

Atalum’s ZigBee starter kit includes Frontline's ZigBee ComProbe® (a finger-sized USB dongle) for air sniffing so that all of Atalum's hardware can be used for ZigBee network building. Atalum will begin shipping its ZigBee starter kits in Q4 of 2005.
