Betfair Acquires Poker Champs and Danish Technology Company

31st October 2005 -- Betfair is delighted to announce the acquisition of Aglet Technolgies, an innovative Danish-based software company, and Poker Champs, a proven global poker platform.

Operating as Betfair Development Denmark, the new organisation will assist the further development of Betfair’s poker platforms and provide new gaming opportunities for the company’s customers.

“We are delighted to have acquired a top class team of developers at Aglet and, in addition, a unique and popular poker platform,” said Steve Ives, Director of Betfair Games.

“The new team will be helping us develop both our own poker products and a unique, integrated games platform. The conclusion of Betfair’s current poker software contract next year with CryptoLogic’s licensing subsidiary, WagerLogic, will see Betfair’s poker provision operated and developed in-house.”

“Aglet is proud to bring to Betfair the knowledge and expertise used to build PokerChamps, one of the world’s most advanced poker gaming systems,” said Kevin Mikkelsen, Aglet’s Chief Executive Officer . “As software developers we are thrilled to be part of a company that represents the finest in technology driven business and product development.”

As a technology-strong company known for its betting innovation, it is Betfair’s strategy to own and operate its own software for core products and the announcement of these two deals is a natural development of this policy.

Betfair is committed to investing in new markets and innovative technology and the creation of Betfair Development Denmark is the next natural phase in the company’s global expansion.
