Cipio Partners strengthens team in Europe and the US

Munich/London/San Jose, November 9, 2005 – Cipio Partners announces the recent appointment of Christoph Wedegaertner and David Mes as Associates in the firm’s Munich and Silicon Valley offices. Gerhard Miller, a Munich based Associate, has been promoted to Principal.

Prior to Cipio Partners, Christoph Wedegaertner was an Investment Manager with a Munich-based family investment office, BTV Group, responsible for the firm’s global private and public equity investment program. Before BTV, he was associated with London-based investment banking firm, Ambrian Partners, advising on M&A and corporate restructuring transactions. Prior to that role, Christoph served for several years at Broadview International, based in San Francisco and London, working on a number of major European and US M&A transactions in Technology, Media and Telecommunications. Christoph holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Master in Management from France’s ESCP-EAP.

David Mes joins Cipio Partners in Silicon Valley, after serving with the NESBIC CTE Fund, a pan-European early-stage venture capital firm, where he managed international venture capital investments in the Software, Internet Services and Energy industries, most notably Oxxio (LSE: CNA).

David began his career as an investment banker working with Banque Paribas and Lehman Brothers. He holds an MBA from the Wharton School and graduated with honors from IEP Paris’ Masters in Economics and Finance as well as summa cum laude from IEP Paris’ Masters in Political Sciences. He also earned an undergraduate law degree from Sorbonne University.

Dr. Hans-Dieter Koch, Managing Partner at Cipio, said: 'Bringing Chris and David on board will significantly add to our resource base. Both have firstclass experience, on a global basis, working with companies throughout the investment life-cycle.” Maximilian Schroeck, Managing Partner in Silicon Valley, added: “We are delighted to have two experienced associates join Cipio as we are accelerating the pace of our investment operation. Both will greatly assist in new portfolio acquisition and realization activities.”

In addition to the new appointments, Cipio also announced the promotion of Gerhard Miller to Principal. Dr. Hans-Dieter Koch said: 'Gerhard has played a key role in our investment efforts over the last twelve months, most notably in the recently closed acquisition of the venture capital portfolio of West STEAG Partners. We are pleased to promote him to Principal and look forward to continue working with him as we further build out our position as a leader in the secondary direct market.'
