Mobile Media Solutions Company Kodime secures Significant Funding

Kodime Ltd, an award-winning provider of mobile media software and services to property marketers, the music business and marketing agencies, has raised significant funding from The Capital Fund, a £50 million venture capital fund that invests in fast-growth companies in Greater London. Kodime will use the capital injection to expand its operations and grow its sales.

Founded in 2002 by Nico Köpke, a former senior vice president of Sony Music Europe, Kodime provides user-friendly, web-based services that companies use to create, launch and manage their own mobile sales and marketing campaigns. The firm’s prestigious client list includes property developers, record companies, orchestras and PR agencies, including St James Homes, the London Symphony Orchestra, EMI Music Publishing, Boosey & Hawkes and

Kodime’s innovative software, known as STARtxt®, allows music businesses to distribute and sell mobile content and run targeted marketing campaigns. Boosey & Hawkes used STARtxt® to power a major ringtone promotion of The Archers theme tune. Commercial and residential property companies use PROPtxt® to generate instant responses from adverts, hoardings and brochures, which invite consumers to text for pictures of a property, or to arrange viewing appointments. And the Company’s ZOOMtxt® software enables marketing agencies to take their projects and brands mobile, through campaigns with text-to-win, text-to-vote options, news alerts or response ads for immediate information to the consumer’s mobile phone.

Managing Director, Nico Köpke, said: “We offer companies easy access to a mass market of mobile users worldwide and enable them to use the mobile channel to communicate directly and instantly with existing and potential customers. Our software is 100% web-based so companies do not need any hardware or software installations and it is particularly suitable for first-time users who now have the tools to launch professional mobile marketing and sales campaigns quickly, and to easily track response rates and revenues.”

Kodime’s software services are based on its proprietary mobile media and data platform, KOMOBILITY™, which is capable of handling thousands of transactions simultaneously, whilst ensuring fast and reliable delivery of messages and content to handsets in countries worldwide.

Mr Köpke continued: “We have successfully positioned Kodime as a ‘mobile value added services company’. We are operating in a market that is growing rapidly as companies seek to reach their target customers via mobile channels and consumers are increasingly using their mobiles to request a variety of content, from house price information to product promotions and sale of ringtones, or to participate in debates and competitions”.

Nico Köpke commented on The Capital Fund: “We are absolutely delighted that The Capital Fund has chosen to invest in Kodime. The Fund’s structured and straightforward processes, combined with Helen Gironi’s professionalism, ensured that our external funding round was a positive experience. We are also very pleased that John O’Sullivan, a non-executive Director with considerable knowledge of both the mobile and marketing sectors, has joined the board as the Fund’s representative. With this new backing and enhanced team, we will strive even harder to enable both our new and existing clients to benefit from the growth in mobile media”

The Capital Fund’s Investment Manager, Helen Gironi, said: “Kodime provides tailored but flexible software solutions that are enabling companies in a range of sectors to capitalise on the significant opportunity to reach many more customers through the mobile channel. The Capital Fund is delighted to support Nico, Brigitte, Scott and the team with their plans to grow Kodime.”
