Skype hype for mobile?
London, UK. 15th February 2006

Earlier this week saw the announcement that mobile network 3 and Skype intend to run trial Skype services over the 3 network and the deal was announced as the first of its kind. However, mobile VoIP (MoIP) was launched by Avantimobile in the UK, to deliver cheap-rate International, Premium-rate and “cross-network” using VoIP-based services calls for Vodafone, O2, t-mobile and Orange customers. Avantimobile uses existing mobile phones and users do not have to change network contracts or mobile numbers to use the service.

Avantimobile based in Crewe, Cheshire, in the UK has been developed with partners based in the US and Russia over an eighteen month period and have had extensive trials the service on the big four UK networks, Vodafone, O2, Orange and T-mobile. The latest Avantimobile developments mean that almost anyone, with mobile phone or a mobile PDA, can take advantage of the low cost calls.

Tony Lloyd-Weston, Managing Director said, “We are really excited to see that commercial need for Avantimobile has been validated with this latest news regarding Skype and 3G. But to say that it is new and “free” is not wholly correct. Our customers, pre-pay and contract users, continue to use their existing phones for lower cost calls, but the normally more costly “premium” calls use the Avantimobile service, saving up to 85% on the calls. The reception for Avantimobile has more than proved its need in the market, with distribution enquiries from several European countries, the US and South America. City investors have expressed very serious interest in the opportunity that Avantimobile provides.”

In order to operate the low-cost services of Avantimobile, users register on-line for the service at www.avantimobile.com. They can then access real-time account information, increase credit and view their call savings, whilst on-line.

Lloyd-Weston added, “In 2006 we expect to make further announcements regarding new international versions of Avantimobile resolving the issue of high roaming charges and I pleased to note that Avantimobile is at the forefront of the new developments aimed at saving money for mobile users.”
Ends.
