Synchronica unlocks capabilities of Windows Mobile devices with Mobile Manager 1.0
New OTA Windows Mobile lifecycle device management application designed for businesses as a self-car

To date, some organizations have been reticent to invest in Windows Mobile devices, citing high set-up/support costs and security concerns as reasons for delaying wide-scale deployment. Synchronicaís Mobile Manager 1.0 removes these perceived barriers to entry. Using Mobile Manager 1.0ís intuitive web-based application, corporates can deploy hundreds or even thousands of devices OTA from a single console in as little as 30 minutes. Problems with phones can be fixed remotely too, without having to return them to the IT department.

On the security front, businesses can immediately disable lost or stolen devices remotely, directly from the Mobile Manager web-based application. The lost device can be wiped and locked over-the-air, preventing potentially sensitive corporate data stored on the device being accessed by unauthorized users.

Other device management solutions require businesses to outsource device management to a service provider or are overcomplicated and not designed for IT administrators. By contrast, Synchronicaís web-based Mobile Manager 1.0 has been developed specifically so that organisations can opt for a self-care solution. Smaller companies may choose to outsource part or all of their Windows Mobile device management to specialist service providers. With this model, companies can access their own web portal but donít have any up-front capital investment costs.

Carsten Brinkschulte, Synchronica CEO, comments: 'Large corporates want to be able to manage these devices themselves rather than go down the hosted model route. They also want guarantees that these increasingly complex, sophisticated devices can be set up and maintained without incurring a time-intensive and costly support headache for their IT department. Finally, they also want assurances that sensitive corporate information stored on such devices can be secured to ensure that lost or stolen devices do not present a security risk. Mobile Manager 1.0 addresses all of these issues, providing a robust and secure web-based device lifecycle management solution.'

Mobile Manager 1.0 is available immediately. Synchronica sells directly to companies and to specialist service providers. SMBs can opt to purchase a fully or part-hosted OTA device management service from service providers, rather than buying the software outright. A version of Mobile Manager for the Symbian platform is currently under development.
