Synchronica announces open industry standard alternative to BlackBerry with SyncML push email
SyncML Gateway 2.1 now available for Microsoft Exchange Server and Sun JES platforms

SyncML Gateway offers wireless synchronization of calendar, address book and email between industry-standard, SyncML-enabled devices and Microsoft Exchange or Sun JES Servers.

SyncML Gateway 2.1 has been developed in response to market demand for industry-standard secure mobile email and PIM synchronization. Strategy Analytics forecasts that the market for secure mobile email traffic will approach $7 billion per year, and comprise 55 million users worldwide, by 2010. Synchronica’s SyncML Gateway provides companies and operators with an effective, secure and viable alternative to the BlackBerry, based on the open industry standard OMA DS.

The solution minimizes deployment and ongoing support costs by being fast and easy to install and by including an intuitive, Web-based administration tool as well as a self-provisioning portal.

SyncML Gateway is sold directly to large enterprises, as well as being available through resellers and the Synchronica WebShop. SyncML Gateway 2.1 is also available for mobile operators and hosted Exchange providers as a hosted solution for enterprises preferring not to install and manage the software themselves.

Carsten Brinkschulte, Synchronica CEO, comments: 'SyncML Gateway 2.1 allows companies to benefit from productivity gains for their mobile workforce, because they are now able to access email and calendar on standard mobile phones. Our solution can be installed and up and running on a server in less than 30 minutes. If the SyncML Gateway is offered by a mobile operator or service provider, its unique zero footprint architecture does not require software to be installed behind the corporate firewall or on the mobile device. This enables operators to market mobile synchronization to individual business users rather than entire organizations. In short, we believe that SyncML Gateway 2.1 offers enterprises, individual business users and operators a cost-effective and robust alternative to the BlackBerry, based on open industry standards.'

SyncML Gateway can synchronize with over 250 SyncML-enabled phones available on the market today and is compatible with Microsoft Exchange 2000 or 2003 Server or Sun JES 3 (Java Enterprise System). SyncML Gateway 2.1 is available immediately, a time-limited trial version of the software can be downloaded here

Carsten Brinkschulte, Synchronica's CEO, will deliver a speech entitled 'SUN Java Enterprise System -- Going Wireless' at the Sun Microsystems Stand C43 on Wednesday, 15 February 2006 at 5pm.
