Library House states that Smart is the Fastest Growing Company in the UK by Headcount

9th June 2006 -- In a recent report by Library House, Smart Holograms is predicted to be the fastest growing company in its UK company data set by headcount. The Company hasincreased from one person in 2004 and is on course to be 33 people within the next few months. The link to the report is here: (

We are now entering a new phase of growth as exemplified by the recent expansion in our Senior Management and Executive team. This is an exciting time for the Company and its international growth plans”.

Smart Holograms is an early-stage company that has exclusive rights to the sensor hologram technology invented at Cambridge University. To date, Smart has had an investment of over £17 million in its core science base and in the business. The Company currently has a team of 30 people (including 14 with PhDs) and has two facilities: in Cambridge (UK) and in San Ramon (USA). In addition, it has four partnerships with global, leading companies for exploitation of its novel sensor hologram technology. The company is currently increasing its head count, quadrupling its facility space and aims to be completing development and manufacture of its first products in 2006.

Julie Lakin (Director of Human Resources and Office Systems) has over twenty years of office administrative experience. She started out in the travel and tourism industry working as Marketing Executive for the East Midlands Tourist Board, marketing the East Midlands both internationally (Holland, Germany and Scandinavia) and within the UK. She has also worked for such organisations as the Royal Society of Nature Conservation in the Research and Development department (as PA), Telematica Systems Ltd, part of TrafficMaster Plc (as Assistant to the Financial Controller), and for Arakis Ltd (as Office Administrator). More recently, she worked at Cambridge Silicon Radio (as PA to the Commercial Director), a leading developer and provider of single chip wireless solutions, based in Cambridge. She has recently helped Smart achieve Investors in People Accreditation.
