CREATE wins Equity Gap Fund of the Year at Investor AllStars Awards

24 October 2006 : CREATE Partners was announced as the winner of the Equity Gap Fund of the Year award at the Investor AllStars Awards in London recently.

CREATE's 'RVCF' fund was raised as part of a competitive process during one of the most severe downturns in venture capital history. Post 2001, world wide capital markets proved to be particularly challenging for Fund Managers seeking to raise new funds focused on the technology and early stage sectors. The achievement of successfully raising such a fund during this period is testament to the quality of the credentials held by CREATE's Fund Managers.

Since closing the fund in 2003, CREATE's 'RVCF' Fund has demonstrated a proven track record of actively seeking smaller sized businesses with high growth potential across the whole range of investment stages including start-up, early stage, development / expansion and MBO/ MBI.

In 2005 CREATE's 'RVCF' Fund organised and provided venture capital funding for the UK's biggest business plan competition, branded as the 'Running the Gauntlet' competition. At the end of a highly competitive process, CREATE provided equity funding of over £1 million to successful start-up companies. As a result of the success generated, a larger competition is being organised in 2006 with over £1.25 million of funding and professional services available for start-ups and growth stage businesses. Running the Gauntlet is a project that demonstrates CREATE's ability to combine creativity with discipline to achieve success for Investee Companies and shareholders.

As well as being awarded Equity Gap Fund of the Year, the team were also shortlisted for International Deal of the Year for their investment in Compound Photonics, one of the finalists in the Running the Gauntlet competition.
