SHS holding Vita 34 due to float
IPO will finance further growth of the umbilical cord blood bank

Tübingen, March 13, 2007 – Umbilical cord blood bank Vita 34 International AG, one of the portfolio companies held by Tübingen-based SHS Gesellschaft für Beteiligungsmanagement mbH, is due to float on the stock exchange. The shares are scheduled to be listed for the first time on the Regulated Market, Prime Standard, at the Frankfurt stock exchange on March 27 this year. The flotation is supported by Concord Effekten (Lead Manager) and the Deutsche Apotheker- und Ärztebank. A total of up to 900,000 shares will be available for subscription as part of the public offering. Of these, around 83 percent or up to 750,000 shares derive from an increase in capital. An additional allocation of up to 112,500 shares will, if necessary, be made available by the existing shareholders.

Vita 34 is the leading umbilical cord blood bank in the German-speaking countries. SHS Gesellschaft für Beteiligungsmanagement mbH has been supporting Vita 34 since it was founded in 1997 with venture capital and management expertise, and has been instrumental in developing the business.

To date, around 40,000 parents in Germany have opted to have their child’s umbilical cord blood stored at Vita 34 as a biological life insurance policy. Stem cells prepared by Vita 34 have already been successfully used on multiple occasions, both to treat patients and to support medical research into heart attack and stroke treatments.

Vita 34 intends to use the proceeds of the share issue to finance further growth and in particular to expand its horizons through sales and marketing.

“The idea of storing cord blood in order to take advantage of new opportunities in medicine has instant appeal. I am delighted that after ten years in development, we are now able to bring this successful business to the stock market. The flotation will accelerate the continuing growth of Vita 34,“ as Hubertus Leonhardt, a partner in SHS Gesellschaft für Beteiligungsmanagement and member of the Supervisory Board of Vita 34 commented on the IPO.
