Skype investor buys stake in cellity

cellity, a leading specialist in Mobile 2.0 applications, is continuing on its growth path. Venture capital investors Mangrove Capital Partners, Neuhaus Partners and b-to-v are acquiring equity holdings in cellity. The size of the investment is in the high seven-digit region.
Following their principle of “smart money for smart ideas,” Mangrove—already a seed investor in Skype—is acquiring shares in a German company for the first time. This investment underscores cellity’s innovative depth and potential for growth. Another first is the cooperation between Mangrove and Hamburg-based venture capitalist Neuhaus Partners. Neuhaus Partners invests in startups within the telecoms and new media sectors. A business “angel network” based out in Switzerland, b-to-v is yet another solid financing partner whose experience will be helpful as cellity pursues its visionary strategy into the future.
“We look forward to working with our investors, who already have a strong track record in software and the telecoms business,' says cellity CEO Nils Weitemeyer. “This new financial support will enable cellity to get off to a strong start internationally and continue its development of mobile innovation,” he adds.
“Thanks to its innovative products, cellity has the potential to clearly set itself apart in the fast-growing mobile applications market,” says Hans-Jürgen Schmitz, managing partner at Mangrove.
The additional capital will primarily be committed to support the company’s international business growth. In the next few days the Hamburg-based company plans to announce its “cellity worldCALL” product.

cellity AG was founded in Hamburg in October 2006 and develops innovative applications for cell phones. In February 2007 the company launched its automated least-cost router for cell phones, the first product of its kind in Germany. In the meantime products such as its text messaging product cellity freeSMS and Twitter client have been added to the Hamburg company's product portfolio.
