CoreOptics delivers fast-service-activation for metro optical networks

Berlin Germany, September 17, 2007: CoreOptics, the global leader in design and manufacturing of 40Gbps and 10Gbps optical networking subsystems, today announced application of 10Gbps Maximum Likelihood Sequence Estimation (MLSE) technology for metropolitan Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) platforms.

“In addition to significant CAPEX/OPEX savings, next generation of metro platforms based on MLSE will offer an adaptive compensation capability that will enable R-OADM based installed networks to achieve much faster service activation time.” commented Hamid Arabzadeh, President and CEO of CoreOptics. ”Our company’s 10G MLSE equalization technology, 40G IC and transponder solutions will further enable metro WDM platforms to provide more capacity, higher speeds, longer reach and a greater utilization of optical networks.”

CoreOptics has established market leadership in providing highly advanced equalization solutions based on electronic signal processing at 10Gbps, while providing a complete set of 40 Gbps transponder modules. The company’s innovative technology is “field-proven” and is in deployment with top tier-1 service providers globally.

“Service providers are continuously looking for higher performance and lower cost in the converged next generation of metro optical networks.” said Georg Roell, Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of CoreOptics. “Using advanced digital signal processing technology based on MLSE, CoreOptics has been in the forefront of delivering innovation to help advance the transformation to packet-oriented optical networking and increase the efficiency of existing network infrastructure.”

CoreOptics currently offers 10 Gbps DWDM, 40 Gbps Single Channel Short Reach and 40/43G DWDM transponder modules. The company’s product portfolio also includes 43 Gb/s Ultra-FEC, 40G Mux/DeMux for 4x10G client signals and Interface Converter supporting SFI-5s, SFI-4, XFI to enable building of next generation Open Tolerant Networks.
