Eqvitec Partners as a founding member in Cleantech Scandinavia


As a founding member of Cleantech Scandinavia Eqvitec Partners will further network and drive the development of the Scandinavian cleantech industry. The network is meant to drive the development in cleantech investments and connect interesting companies, investors and other important parties with each other. There are 16 venture capital companies in the network, some of which are relatively new in the area, and others, like Eqvitec funds, have already invested in numerous of cleantech companies.

Funds advised by Eqvitec invests in technically strong companies with solid business models and opportunities for international growth. They have already made numerous investments in the cleantech sector. For example, in Ecocat, a manufacturer of catalytic converters for combustive engines; in VIZ, a company marketing risk management program for the energy trade; Modilis developing energy saving lightguide solutions and Norstel which enables, high-power electronics.

Cleantech Scandinavia is also an answer to growing international interest in Scandinavian cleantech, and a partnership has been formed with Cleantech Venture Network, the international organization that coined the cleantech term, now with more than 1000 members. Next on the agenda is a Cleantech Capital Day, were experts and investment professionals are gathered within the areas of material and water, in November Lahti, Finland.

Cleantech developments in many applications are acting as interesting links between more traditional sectors, such as power generation and the automotive industry, as modern technology solutions are being sought to overcome problems associated with climate change. Eqvitec Partners Investment Director, Jarkko Penttilä, hopes that Cleantech Scandinavia will boost the success of Nordic cleantech companies by active knowledge sharing and bringing the right partners closer to each other.

Eqvitec Partners has a separate team for investment opportunities in the cleantech area. The focus of the team is on the efficiency of the production, distribution and storing of energy, renewable energy, waste management and recycling.

Eqvitec Partners Oy is one of the largest technology focused venture capital firms in Northern Europe.
