SHS wins Stephan Rapp as a Senior Manager
Change from the management of the Bavarian blood donation service to the Venture Capital company


Tübingen, 14 January 2008 – SHS Gesellschaft für Beteiligungsmanagement in Tübingen has won Stephan Rapp (45) as a new senior manager. The financial analyst with a doctorate in biochemistry last managed the field of Business Development as managing director of the blood donation service in the Bavarian Red Cross and set-up new business fields there such as molecular diagnostics, GMP-stem cell processing and biobanks. As holding manager Stephan Rapp will support the development of young companies at the SHS. SHS Gesellschaft für Beteiligungsmanagement is closing its third fund for financing young, innovative companies from the field of Life Sciences and Healthcare these days.

“Stephan Rapp is an ideal supplement to the team of the SHS. He has extensive experience in the development and setting-up of innovative companies and projects. As a biochemist and financial analyst he will contribute both know-how in natural sciences as well as commercial know how. We are very pleased that we were able to win Mr Rapp for SHS”, comments Bernhard Schirmers, managing director of SHS Gesellschaft für Beteiligungsmanagement with regard to the new addition to the company.

Before his activity at the blood donation service of the BRK Stephan Rapp was Manager of Clinical Operations EU at Genetics Institute – the Biotech Division of Wyeth as well as project manager clinical research at Fujisawa and scientist at the biochemical centre in Heidelberg and the German cancer research centre.

SHS Gesellschaft für Beteiligungsmanagement is undergoing the first closing of its third fund with a planned volume of Euro 70 million. In the next few years the Venture Capital fund will invest in young companies with substantial growth from the fields of Life Sciences and Healthcare. SHS is in particular focusing its attention on companies from the fields of medical technology, diagnostics as well as platform and production technologies. SHS Gesellschaft für Beteiligungsmanagement invests exclusively in companies with products and technologies which are ready for the market as well as those with exceptionally high potential for growth. The experienced team does not just contribute capital into its portfolio company, but also management competence and capacity.
